Now in its fifth year, Burns&Beyond is a culture festival in Edinburgh celebrating the life and legacy of Robert Burns, Scotland’s National Bard, inviting audiences to discover the very best in live music, comedy, poetry, dance and art from across Scotland… and Beyond!

We will be strongly recommending our visitors follow all our guidelines when visiting our events:

  • Refrain from attending if you are unwell, have Covid-19 symptoms or have been contacted by NHS Scotland Test and Protect in the last 14 days.
  • Encourage all to respect other people’s personal space.
  • Bar areas open, offering a limited selection – please avoid if crowded and respect people’s personal space.
  • Please respect our staff during your visit as they implement the processes, we have put in place to support everyone’s wellbeing.

Yes, most of our events are family friendly, with specific events and Red, Red Rose Street activities suitable for younger audiences.

Please note that Burns&Beyond Festival Club events at the Assembly Rooms events have age restrictions ranging from 14+ (Under 16’s must be accompanied by adult 18+) and Over 18’s Only, more information on event age restrictions can be found on the event and tickets pages on our website.

Lighting effects will be used in the Burns&Beyond Festival Club. Any strobing effects will be advertised in advance and warning notices located on entry to venue.

Yes absolutely, our family friendly events are suitable for children and buggy access. Staff will be on-hand should you require assistance for buggy access.

Our event stewards and staff are available throughout the events to assist and advise.

Unfortunately no food, alcoholic drinks, glass or cans may be brought into any of the Burns&Beyond event venues. Refreshments will be made available at some of our events and located at designated areas.

Alcoholic drinks will be available at the Burns&Beyond Festival Club (Assembly Rooms) but will not be served to anyone under the age of 18yrs and a challenge 25 policy will be operating during the event.

We would highly recommend you do but professional photography equipment will not be permitted into the Burns&Beyond Festival Club (Assembly Rooms) without prior permission from the event organisers (i.e. cameras with interchangeable lenses).

There will be so many amazing moments to photograph and remember at this event, please use Smart Phones and compact digital cameras to share images via social media using #burnsandbeyond.

Burns&Beyond welcomes photographers to our events who are invited to capture and film their experience on cameras and smart phones for personal use and sharing via social media.

Photography for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited. Anyone found using content for promotional or commercial purposes must have a prior written agreement from Unique Events or will be in breach of copyright and may face legal action.

All photography for press or online publications should be title credited to Burns&Beyond.Festival

Burns&Beyond presents a programme of both free unticketed and ticked events. Ticketed event prices vary and are available on the website pages for each individual event.

Yes, Registered Carers of visitors with accessibility requirements can attend the events for free (if tickets available), but still require an event ticket. Please contact the box office by emailing boxoffice@unique-events.co.uk or phoning 0844 573 8455* to arrange tickets and provide details of any access requirements for visitors.

Unfortunately, there are no concession tickets for registered student or if you are in receipt of state pension or benefits.

All tickets are only valid for the day and start time of the event/session selected at time of booking and are not transferable. Please make sure you allow plenty of time to get to the event for your selected session start time. Latecomers may not be admitted until a suitable time in the performance.

Tickets will be available to purchase on-the-door for events, however we cannot guarantee that tickets will be available for events on-the-day.

Due to expected demand, we recommend that you purchase in advance.

Accessibility

Burns&Beyond venues St,.Giles Cathedral, Assembly Rooms and National Museum of Scotland are fully accessible on Ground Floor and first floor areas, with ramp, lift and toilet facilities available.

Please note that the Assembly Rooms Balcony Seating area on 2nd floor is only accessible via steps.

On arrival to all venues, reception and event staff will be more than happy to offer any assistance you may need to help navigate the venue.

St. Giles’ Cathedral (St. Giles’ Street), Assembly Rooms (George Street), National Museum of Scotland (Chamber Street) all have Blue Badge parking areas in close proximity to the venues.

Travel & Parking

Please Do! Edinburgh has excellent public transport services supplied by Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams. Our events are located across Edinburgh City Centre. Travel within the city is best planned with Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams. More information on timetable and location/routes can be found on their websites:

Public Parking areas are available in close proximity to all Burns&Beyond events and venues. Please check specific parking location for Pay Parking timings and costs.

The nearest rail station to our events is Edinburgh Waverley Station and/or Edinburgh Haymarket Station

For further information, please visit National Rail or Trainline.

A taxi rank can be located outside both train stations and is approximately 5-7 minute ride to the event venues.

Cancellation

The majority of Burns&Beyond events and activities take place in indoor venues and would not be affected by weather conditions.

No refunds will be offered if the weather is inclement, but the event is safe to go ahead.

Should weather conditions be deemed extreme and weather warnings be issued this would be communicated through the event box office and social media channels.

If the event has to be cancelled due to extreme weather, tickets will be refunded automatically within seven working days. Visitors will be contacted by email with confirmation of refund and offered an alternative night/session if possible.

If ticketed events are required to be cancelled due to extreme weather, a decision to cancel will be taken in advance of the event on the day. If a decision is made to cancel a ticketed event we will endeavour to contact all patrons by email and the information will be advertised on the official website and social media platforms.

For safety reasons, a decision may be made at any time during the evening to abandon, postpone or delay any or all of the advertised events/sessions. This information will be advertised on the official website and social media platforms. In the event of inclement weather visitors should check that Burns&Beyond is open and the event is going ahead by visiting the website , or phoning 0844 573 8455*.

Yes, if your event is cancelled by the festival/event producers, you will receive an automatic refund from the point of purchase for the value of your event ticket(s). Please note that booking fees are a cost incurred by the Box Office provider and are non-refundable as a condition of purchase.

Burns&Beyond  is presented Scotland’s leading independent event producers Unique Events Ltd.

Competitions

Not open to employees of competition host, Unique Events, Marketing Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh Council or Essential Edinburgh their immediate families, their agents or anyone professionally connected with the promotion.

Limited to one entry per household. No third party or bulk entries will be accepted.

Entrants must be aged over 18 years.

Tickets will be non-changeable, non-refundable, non-transferable and will carry no face value.

All elements of prize package are subject to change and are subject to all prize fund provider standard operator terms and conditions.

The prize is as stated. No cash or other alternative prize is available except that in the event of circumstances outside of the promoter’s control. The promoter reserves the right to provide a similar prize of equal or greater value.
